Located in a privileged strategic position, the Arena Potosi is a clear example of sustainability and environmental care in a city under constant urban and business development such as San Luis Potosi.
With the capacity to hold an audience of about 22 thousand people, this modern location has an exclusive and approachable design distributed over 4 levels and 41 balconies, so the place is equipped to host massive events that promote tourism and trigger the local economy.
In accordance with local environmental care policy, all the Arena Potosi areas were developed after carrying out in-depth studies on how to safeguard the environment.
“We use dry urinals and toilets equipped with minimum discharge flushometers,” explained Julián Espinosa, the Arena’s Technical Project Manager. “Besides all this, we have septic tanks for animal waste, 100% high-tech led illumination systems, and fire control devices divided by areas and specific points.”
“This project was financed with public funds from the government of San Luis Potosi,” expressed Espinosa, “and the venue can be used for sports, cultural, and artistic events, taking advantage of the geographic location of the site in the city, with elements in its design for the comfort and well-being of the users, creating a positive experience by itself.
At the Arena, the Sloan brand carries great weight, as the company shares the Arena’s goals of protecting visitors’ health and well-being, as well as the support the products provide in terms of sustainability and environmental care.
“We consider Sloan a leading brand in the market. With the technology they have developed, they prevent visitors from getting in contact with surfaces, which is very important in public spaces with heavy crowds,” expressed Espinosa. “The ability to adjust water flush cycles with Sloan’s products, avoid contact with surfaces, and decrease paper waste are just some of the advantages of Sloan products.”
Accessibility is a key point of the venue. Its four general accesses are designed to facilitate the entrance of people with disabilities. Moreover, the Arena Potosi has 31 bathroom modules strategically distributed for the comfort of the attendees.
“From the beginning, this project planned to provide enough bathroom modules at restroom areas to avoid long lines and agglomerations during massive events,” pointed out Espinoza. “Each restroom area has the required space for disabled people in terms of toilets and sinks. Each level has neutral bathrooms, diaper changing stations, and sanitary pad disposal devices.”
The inside of the venue represents a tribute to the culture and landscapes of the region. Murals that represent Rio Verde’s Media Luna, the castle of Edward James in Xilitla and various settings of the Huastec region embellish its walls. Moreover, iconic figures such as singer Jorge Negrete and symbolic constructions such as Teatro de la Paz, and Matehuala and San Luis cathedrals are also present as part of the decoration.
On the outside, the Arena holds green areas and pedestrian access besides a wide parking space with capacity for one thousand vehicles.
Thus, the vision behind the Arena Potosi is clear: to turn San Luis into one of the cultural epicenters of the country with this project shaping up to become the new icon of the state, to stand out as a strategic project for the local government, and mark a before and an after in the cultural and artistic history of the state.
